France Claims Bronze in Stuttgart Against a Determined Germany
Stuttgart, Germany – France secured victory in the UEFA Nations League third-place match, held at the MHPArena in Stuttgart. In a hard-fought and dynamic encounter, the French team overcame Germany with a score of 2-0, showcasing solidity and effectiveness.
The match, officiated by Slovakian referee Ivan Kružliak, was characterized by intensity and midfield battles. The first half was evenly contested, with both teams seeking to impose their game. However, France managed to break the deadlock just before halftime, in the 45th minute, thanks to a goal by Kylian Mbappé, following an excellent assist from Aurélien Tchouaméni.
In the second half, Germany came out with renewed energy, searching for the equalizer. However, luck was not on their side. In the 53rd minute, a goal by David Undav was disallowed by VAR due to a prior foul. Despite dominating possession (55%) and having a greater number of shots (19 against France’s 15), the German team failed to capitalize on their opportunities.
France, on the other hand, capitalized on their efficiency to extend the lead in the final minutes. In the 84th minute, Michael Olise scored the second goal for Les Bleus, assisted again by Mbappé, sealing the match and securing third place.
The match was also marked by the accumulation of yellow cards. Lucas Digne, Lucas Hernández for France, and David Raum, Karim Adeyemi, and Jonathan Tah for Germany were shown yellow cards.
