Gençlerbirliği Edges Out Sakaryaspor in Tight Ankara Encounter
Gençlerbirliği secured a victory over Sakaryaspor in a closely fought match at the Eryaman Stadyumu in Ankara on May 4th, 2025. The game, part of the 37th round of the Turkish 1. Lig, ended 1-0 in favor of the home side, refereed by Zorbay Kucuk.
The only goal of the game came in the 39th minute, courtesy of D. Popa, assisted by S. Osmanoglu. Despite having less possession (47% compared to Sakaryaspor’s 53%), Gençlerbirliği proved more clinical in attack, managing 12 shots (6 on target) compared to Sakaryaspor’s solitary attempt.
