North Macedonia Thrash Liechtenstein in Skopje
Skopje, September 7, 2025 – North Macedonia showcased their dominance at home against Liechtenstein with a resounding victory at the Toše Proeski Arena. The match, part of the Group Stage of the European Qualification for the World Cup, saw the Macedonians dominate from start to finish, both in possession and goal-scoring opportunities.
The scoring began in the 15th minute with a goal by Eljif Elmas, assisted by Adrian Stojcevski. Despite a yellow card for Bojan Ilievski in the 21st minute, North Macedonia maintained the pressure, and Enis Bardhi extended the lead in the 52nd minute, this time with an assist from Ilievski himself. Dimitar Churlinov added another goal in the 56th minute, assisted by Bardhi, consolidating Macedonian dominance.
In the final stretch of the match, Luan Qamili scored in the 82nd minute after an assist from Ezgjan Alioski, and Luka Stankovski sealed the rout in the 90th minute, assisted by Gjoko Zajkov. Liechtenstein, despite their efforts, failed to seriously threaten the Macedonian goal. Ball possession reflected the home side’s superiority (71% for North Macedonia versus 29% for Liechtenstein), and the number of shots on goal (9 for North Macedonia versus 1 for Liechtenstein) highlighted the difference in attack. Romanian referee Horatiu Fesnic booked two Macedonian players (Ilievski and Ramadani) and one from Liechtenstein (Oberwaditzer). The match concluded with a final scoreline reflecting the clear difference between the two teams.
