Flamengo defeats Juventude in a thrilling match
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – Flamengo defeated Juventude by a score of 5-2 in a thrilling match played at the Estádio do Maracanã. The Carioca dominance translated into 75% possession of the ball and 18 shots, 10 of them on target. Juventude, for its part, fought on, but was limited to just 5 shots, 3 of them on target.
The match began with a goal from Michael for Flamengo in the 8th minute. Juventude equalized in the 25th minute with a goal from Gilberto, but Flamengo regained the lead with a penalty converted by Gabriel Barbosa in the 49th minute.
A goal from Giorgian de Arrascaeta in the 54th minute extended the Carioca advantage. Juventude, despite the disadvantage, stayed in the match and managed to discount in the 70th minute with a goal from Edson Carioca. However, Flamengo sealed the victory with another goal from Giorgian de Arrascaeta in the 90th minute.
The match was marked by the expulsion of Nene from Juventude in the 75th minute for a double yellow card. Flamengo also saw a red card, but this was for a foul by Leo Pereira in the 90th minute.
