Ferencvarosi TC Secures Decisive Victory in Budapest Derby
Budapest, Hungary – Ferencvarosi TC demonstrated their superiority in the Budapest derby held at the Groupama Arena, corresponding to matchday 21 of the NB I. Despite having less ball possession (39% compared to Ujpest’s 61%), Ferencvarosi TC was much more effective in front of goal.
The score opened early, in the 10th minute, with a goal by F. Kovacevic, assisted by M. Abu Fani. Ferencvarosi continued to press and extended their lead in the 36th minute thanks to M. Gomez. Before halftime, G. Kanichowsky scored the third goal in the 45th minute, assisted by A. Osvath, leaving the match practically decided.
In the second half, Ujpest tried to react, but Ferencvarosi’s defense remained solid. Despite having more possession and taking some shots, the lack of accuracy prevented Ujpest from getting closer on the scoreboard. The match was marred by several yellow cards at the end of the game, showing the intensity of the derby. M. Gomez, J. Romao, and T. Raemaekers from Ferencvarosi TC, as well as K. Horvath and A. Fiola from Ujpest, were cautioned.
Ferencvarosi TC dominated in shots on target (7 compared to 2) and corners (10 compared to 5), confirming their superiority in the match.
