Besiktas triumphed over Fenerbahce in a thrilling Istanbul derby held at the Ülker Stadyumu Fenerbahçe Şükrü Saracoğlu Spor Kompleksi on May 4th, 2025. The match, part of Süper Lig’s matchday 34, ended with a narrow 2-0 victory for Besiktas. Georgios Fernandes was the match hero, scoring both goals. His first came in the 36th minute, after a missed penalty which he himself had won, followed by his second in the 44th minute. The game was characterized by tension, reflected in a flurry of yellow cards: three for Fenerbahce (Soyuncu, Mourinho, and Skriniar) and four for Besiktas (Hekimoglu, Uduokhai, Gunok and Masuaku). Despite dominating possession (62%), Fenerbahce couldn’t breach Besiktas’s resolute defense, managing 19 shots, 8 on target. Besiktas, with 38% possession, proved more clinical, registering 7 shots, 3 on target and converting two into goals.
