FCSB falls to CFR 1907 Cluj in thrilling encounter
Bucharest, April 20, 2025.- FCSB suffered a 3-3 defeat against CFR 1907 Cluj in a thrilling match at the Arena Națională, in the fifth round of the Championship Round of the Romanian Liga I. Despite a strong offensive performance, with goals from J. Cisotti (two goals) and V. Chiriches, the home team was hampered by the red card shown to M. Popescu in the 65th minute and a flurry of yellow cards in the closing stages.
CFR 1907 Cluj, with slightly more possession (55%), controlled periods of the game, though FCSB proved clinical in their opportunities. L. Munteanu was the star of the show for the visitors, scoring a missed penalty that he later converted, and adding another in stoppage time for a hat-trick.
The match was intense, featuring a total of 24 fouls (15 by FCSB and 9 by CFR 1907 Cluj), and was marked by the high number of yellow cards in the late stages of the game.
