FC Tokyo Stages Thrilling Comeback Victory Over Urawa at Home
Chōfu, Japan – In a vibrant match held at the Ajinomoto Stadium, FC Tokyo orchestrated an impressive comeback against Urawa in the 24th round of the J1 League. The game, played in an electrifying atmosphere, culminated in a victory for the home side, who successfully rebounded from an unfavorable scoreline.
The match began with an early goal from K. Endo in the 6th minute, assisted by Y. Nagatomo, giving FC Tokyo the lead. However, Urawa responded strongly, scoring two consecutive goals through K. Yasui in the 15th minute and R. Watanabe in the 20th minute, the latter assisted by Matheus Savio, turning the score around. Just before halftime, Marcelo Ryan of FC Tokyo had his goal disallowed by VAR due to a prior foul, maintaining Urawa’s lead at halftime.
The second half was a display of struggle and determination by FC Tokyo. Marcelo Ryan redeemed himself in the 66th minute, scoring a crucial goal assisted by Y. Nagatomo, leveling the score. The decisive moment came in the 88th minute when T. Nakagawa scored the winning goal for FC Tokyo, unassisted, unleashing euphoria in the stands.
FC Tokyo dominated in possession with 49%, compared to Urawa’s 51%, and surpassed their opponent in shots on goal (5 vs. 4) and total shots (19 vs. 10).
