FC Sion Crushes FC Lugano in Thrilling Match
Sion, Switzerland – FC Sion dominated FC Lugano at the Stade de Tourbillon with a resounding victory, leaving little doubt about their superiority on the field. Despite having only 34% ball possession, Sion made the most of their opportunities, demonstrating remarkable effectiveness in front of goal.
The match opened in the 6th minute with a goal by J. Lukembila, assisted by N. Hefti, giving Sion an early lead. Lugano tried to respond, but a goal was disallowed for offside in the 20th minute after a VAR review. Y. Chouaref extended Sion’s lead just before halftime, also assisted by N. Hefti, solidifying their dominance.
In the second half, B. Kololli increased the advantage with a goal in the 60th minute, assisted by J. Lukembila. Although Lugano tried to react and had a higher percentage of possession (66%), their efforts were frustrated by Sion’s defense and their lack of precision in attack. Sion sealed the match with a goal by R. Nivokazi in the 80th minute, assisted by T. Bouchlarhem.
The match was also marked by intensity, with several yellow cards shown to both teams. U. Bislimi, M. Belhadj, and K. Behrens from Lugano, and R. Nivokazi and K. Hajrizi from Sion received cautions.
Sion, with 11 total shots (8 on target), demonstrated greater efficiency compared to Lugano’s 16 shots (only 3 on target). The match, refereed by Luca Piccolo, left Sion as the clear winner and Lugano with much to reflect on.
