Porto Stages Late Comeback to Defeat Sporting in Thrilling Match
The Estádio do Dragão hosted a thrilling encounter between FC Porto and Sporting CP in matchday 21 of the Primeira Liga. Despite dominating possession (56% vs 44%), Porto struggled to overcome a combative Sporting side. I. Fresneda gave the Lions the lead in the 42nd minute with an assist from G. Quenda. However, the home team managed a late comeback. A goal from Danny Namaso in the 90th minute, assisted by Samu, secured victory for the Dragons.
The match was marked by tension, with a total of 30 fouls and seven cards (one red card for Sporting and five yellow cards, three of which to Sporting in the final minutes). Sporting, despite having less possession, managed 13 shots (3 on target), while Porto had 17 (2 on target). Clinical finishing ultimately decided the victory for the home side, who managed a last-minute comeback despite the visitors’ challenge.
