FC Luzern defeated FC Sion 2-1 in a closely fought match at the swissporarena in Lucerne. Despite a significant difference in possession (64% for Sion versus 36% for Luzern), it was the home side who emerged victorious. The match began with an early goal from Grbic in the 6th minute, assisted by Ottiger. However, Sion dominated possession and had more scoring chances (20 shots to Luzern’s 6), but failed to convert them effectively. Hajrizi scored an own goal in the 58th minute, equalizing for Sion, but a second own goal, this time by Ottiger in the 65th minute, secured the win for Luzern. Despite Sion’s territorial dominance, their lack of accuracy and two own goals proved decisive in the final result. Referee Lionel Tschudi of Switzerland showed one yellow card to Sion’s A. Kabacalman.
