FC Lugano secured a 2-1 victory over FC Winterthur in a match played at the Stadio di Cornaredo in Lugano on March 16th, 2025. This Super League encounter, part of round 28 of the Swiss regular season, saw Lugano dominate possession (55%) and outshoot their opponents 16 to 7. However, it was their accuracy that proved decisive. Giorgos Koutsias scored twice for Lugano, in the 51st and 56th minutes, assisted by Macek and Bislimi respectively. Winterthur managed a late consolation goal through Luthi in the 85th minute. Lugano’s superior finishing was evident in their three shots on target compared to Winterthur’s two. Referee Stefan Horisberger issued two yellow cards, both to Winterthur players.
