SKN St. Pölten Stages Comeback Win Against FC Liefering in Thrilling Match
Wals-Siezenheim, Austria – SKN St. Pölten secured a 4-3 victory over FC Liefering in a pulsating match at the Red Bull Arena, in round 25 of the Austrian 2. Liga. The game, played on April 21st, 2025, was a back-and-forth affair with numerous scoring opportunities for both sides.
FC Liefering dominated possession (71%), had more shots (16 shots, 6 on target), and earned more corners (10), but couldn’t maintain their lead. R. Harakate opened the scoring for St. Pölten in the 29th minute, but G. Diakite equalized for Liefering in the 43rd minute. M. Stendera put St. Pölten back in front in the 53rd minute, only for a J. Zangerl own goal to level the score in the 58th minute. Liefering received two yellow cards, while St. Pölten received one. However, in the closing stages, St. Pölten proved more clinical. C. M’Buyi scored in the 82nd minute and Liefering could only manage a consolation goal from B. Okoh in the 89th minute.
Despite dominating possession and chances, Liefering couldn’t match St. Pölten’s effectiveness in key moments, resulting in a victory for the visitors. The referee was Stefan Macanovic from Austria.
