FC Andorra Dominates Possession but FC Cartagena Wins 1-0 in Copa del Rey Clash
Andorra la Vella hosted a thrilling Copa del Rey match on December 5th, 2024, at the Estadi Nacional. FC Andorra, dominating possession with 67%, bombarded the opposition goal with 18 shots, 5 on target. However, their finishing let them down. FC Cartagena, despite significantly less possession (33%), proved more clinical, scoring in the 29th minute through A. Ortuno, assisted by J. Izquierdo. Despite Andorra’s superiority in shots, corners (10 to 2), and possession, Cartagena’s defense held firm. The match was a tense affair, with three yellow cards for the visitors (P. Alcala, P. Roman, Mini) and a physical encounter resulting in 12 fouls apiece. Referee Carlos Muñiz officiated the 2nd Round Copa del Rey match of the 2024 season. Cartagena’s narrow victory eliminates Andorra from the competition.
