FBC Melgar defeated Sporting Cristal 1-0 in a thrilling match played at the Estadio de la Universidad Nacional San Agustín in Arequipa. The game, corresponding to matchday 5 of the Peruvian Primera División, saw a hard-fought victory for the home side.
The only goal of the match came in the 17th minute through C. Bordacahar. Despite an even possession split (50% each), Melgar showed greater efficiency in their attacks, although they had fewer shots than Cristal (11 to 14).
