Everton Women suffered a narrow defeat against Manchester City Women in a match played at Walton Hall Park in Liverpool on December 15th, 2024. Despite having only 20% possession, the Toffees surprised the Citizens with two early goals. Forward L. Hope opened the scoring in the 31st minute, followed by H. Hayashi in the 39th minute, both goals born from effective plays despite the possession deficit. However, Manchester City, dominating possession with 80%, constantly pressured and managed to level the score with a penalty from M. Fowler in the 88th minute. The match, corresponding to round 10 of the 2024 FA WSL, was characterized by City’s superior shot count (16 to 8) and corner kicks (9 to 3), while Everton received two yellow cards. Despite their effort, Everton couldn’t hold onto their initial lead and had to settle for a draw against a stronger opponent.
