Universidad Católica Overwhelms Everton in Viña del Mar
Viña del Mar, Chile – In a match held at the Estadio Sausalito, Universidad Católica convincingly defeated Everton de Viña del Mar. The game, part of the 24th matchday of the Primera División, saw UC control the ball with 68% possession compared to the home team’s 32%.
The first goal came in the 26th minute, courtesy of Fernando Zampedri, assisted by C. Montes. Zampedri would score again, this time from a penalty, in the 39th minute, extending the lead for the visiting team. In the second half, at the 54th minute, Zampedri completed his hat-trick with another goal, sealing the victory for Universidad Católica.
Everton suffered the expulsion of R. Gonzalez in the 37th minute, further hindering their performance. The home team tried to react, but only managed to generate 13 shots, of which only 2 were on target. UC, on the other hand, recorded 19 shots, with 7 directed at the goal. Referee Manuel Vergara showed a total of 9 yellow cards, 6 for Everton and 3 for Universidad Católica.
