Guimarães Secures Victory in Amadora with Late Goal
In a hard-fought match at the Estádio José Gomes in Amadora, Vitória Guimarães secured a valuable 2 to 0 victory against Estrela. Estrela dominated possession with 59%, but struggled to translate that superiority into clear scoring opportunities. Guimarães, more effective, capitalized on their chances.
The opening goal came in the 33rd minute, courtesy of N. Oliveira following an assist from R. Abascal. Despite Estrela’s territorial dominance, Guimarães defended well and looked dangerous on the counter-attack. Estrela attempted to respond with 10 shots, but only one hit the target, highlighting their lack of precision.
The match remained tense until the very end, with two yellow cards shown to Estrela players in the second half. In the 90th minute, A. Ndoye sealed the victory with a goal, assisted by N. Saviolo, securing all three points for Guimarães. While Estrela had more possession (59% compared to Guimarães’s 41%), Guimarães’s attacking effectiveness proved decisive.
