Estoril Upset SC Braga at Home in Tight Victory
Estoril, Portugal – In a hard-fought match at the Estádio António Coimbra da Mota, Estoril Praia secured a victory against SC Braga in a game marked by intensity and constant battling. Despite SC Braga enjoying significantly more possession (68% against 32%), it was Estoril who managed to capitalize on one of their opportunities.
The match, part of the 15th round of the Primeira Liga, 2025 season, saw its first key moment in the 41st minute when Jandro of Estoril received a yellow card. Shortly after, in the 43rd minute, A. Lacximicant of Estoril scored the only goal of the match, assisted by P. Amaral, sending the local fans into elation.
The second half was filled with tension and cautions. P. Victor of SC Braga received a yellow card in the 62nd minute. In the final minutes, referee David Rafael Oliveira da Silva, from Portugal, issued several yellow cards: to R. Sanchez of Estoril in the 78th minute, to T. Parente of Estoril in the 82nd minute, and in stoppage time to F. Grillitsch of SC Braga, as well as to F. Garcia and A. Tsoungui of Estoril.
Despite having less possession and fewer total shots (13 for Estoril against 12 for SC Braga), Estoril showed effectiveness in front of goal, with 7 of their shots directed on target. SC Braga, although dominant in possession, failed to translate that superiority into goals. The match ended with a victory for Estoril, earning three valuable points in their quest to climb the league table.
