Troyes Dominates Montpellier in Card-Laden Match
Troyes, France – Estac Troyes defeated Montpellier at the Stade de l’Aube in a match corresponding to the third day of Ligue 2. The match, officiated by Aurelien Petit, was marked by high ball possession by Troyes (61%) and questionable discipline by both sides.
Troyes took the lead in the 31st minute with a goal by M. Adeline, without a direct assist. Earlier, in the 19th minute, Montpellier suffered a major blow with the expulsion of T. Sainte-Luce, forcing the visiting team to play with ten men for most of the match.
Despite being outnumbered, Montpellier tried to react, but Troyes’ defensive solidity and the lack of accuracy in shots on goal prevented a comeback. Troyes, on the other hand, generated more danger, although they only managed to place four of their thirteen shots on target.
The referee showed several yellow cards throughout the match: M. El Idrissy (12′) and J. Assoumou (51′) for Troyes, and E. Junior Pereira da Silva (57′) for Montpellier. A. Diakite of Troyes also received a warning in the 90th minute. The match ended with a total of 12 fouls committed by Troyes and 11 by Montpellier.
