Emelec Defeats Delfín in a Hard-Fought Match in Guayaquil
Guayaquil, Ecuador – In a vibrant match held at the Estadio George Capwell Banco del Austro, Emelec defeated Delfín SC in a Liga Pro encounter. The match, officiated by referee Juan Carlos Andrade Arreaga, was marked by intensity and controversial decisions.
Emelec dominated possession with 70%, generating a greater number of goal-scoring opportunities. However, the first major excitement came early, in the 6th minute, when a goal by J. Ayoví for Emelec was disallowed by VAR due to an offside.
Delfín SC struggled to contain Emelec’s constant attack, which was reflected in a higher number of fouls committed, totaling 20, and receiving four yellow cards, the first of which was for N. Gallardo in the 27th minute.

In added time, M. Burdisso scored for Delfín SC in the 90th minute, assisted by B. Cuello, setting the final score.
Despite dominating possession and having more shots on target, Emelec had to fight to secure the victory, while Delfín SC showed a combative, albeit undisciplined, attitude, which translated into a higher number of fouls and yellow cards. The match unfolded in a tense and exciting atmosphere, making it clear that the Ecuadorian Liga Pro remains a highly competitive league.
