El Nacional defeated Técnico Universitario in a thrilling match played at the Estadio Olímpico Atahualpa in Quito. The game, corresponding to the 15th matchday of the 2024 Liga Pro second round, ended with a 3-2 victory for El Nacional.
El Nacional took the lead early with a goal from J. Ordóñez in the 22nd minute, assisted by G. J. Cortez Casierra. However, Técnico Universitario responded with a penalty converted by S. González in the 45th minute, leaving the score 1-1 at halftime. El Nacional demonstrated its superiority in the second half, with F. Mora Penaranda scoring in the 53rd minute to make it 2-1. Although Técnico Universitario attempted to close the gap with a missed penalty by S. González in the 90th minute, El Nacional’s final goal sealed the victory. El Nacional dominated with 14 shots (4 on target), while Técnico Universitario had 17 (3 on target). Despite Técnico Universitario’s greater possession (63%), El Nacional was more effective in finishing.
