El Nacional Stages Dramatic Comeback in Quito, Leaving Emelec Breathless
Quito, Ecuador – In a vibrant match held at the Estadio Olímpico Atahualpa, El Nacional secured a thrilling victory over Emelec with a score of 2 to 1. The match, part of the fifth round of the Liga Pro 2025 Placement Group, was filled with intensity and emotions until the very last minute.
Emelec took the lead in the 26th minute thanks to a penalty converted by J. Ayoví, following a foul inside the area. However, the joy didn’t last long. El Nacional, spurred on by their fans, relentlessly sought the equalizer. The pressure paid off in the 42nd minute when D. Reasco, assisted by A. Cela, leveled the score with a goal from open play.
