Tottenham Edges Past Eintracht Frankfurt in Tight Europa League Quarter-Final
Tottenham Hotspur secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in a keenly contested UEFA Europa League quarter-final clash at the Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt am Main on April 17th, 2025. Italian referee Davide Massa oversaw the match in the 2024 season’s quarter-finals.
The game was a fiercely fought encounter with both teams displaying attacking intent. Eintracht Frankfurt enjoyed the majority of possession (60%), registering 14 shots, 5 of which were on target. However, they lacked the cutting edge in front of goal. Tottenham, despite having only 40% possession, proved more clinical, managing 3 shots on target.
A penalty converted by D. Solanke in the 43rd minute proved to be the difference between the two sides. The match saw several yellow cards issued: Kaua Santos and R. Kristensen for Eintracht Frankfurt, and B. Johnson, R. Bentancur, and C. Romero for Tottenham. Despite Frankfurt’s dominance in possession and their 8 corners compared to Tottenham’s 7, their inability to convert chances and Tottenham’s effectiveness from a set-piece proved decisive. The foul count was relatively even, with 7 for Frankfurt and 8 for Tottenham.
