Upset in Zagreb: HNK Gorica Dominates Dinamo Despite Possession
In a match played at the Stadion Maksimir in Zagreb, HNK Gorica surprised Dinamo Zagreb with a convincing victory, despite the home team dominating possession with 74%. The match, corresponding to the sixth matchday of the HNL, was marked by intensity and cards.
Gorica took the lead in the 21st minute with a goal by I. Pozo, assisted by Z. Trontelj. At the start of the second half, Z. Trontelj reappeared, this time scoring a goal in the 47th minute with an assist from F. Cuic, extending the lead. Dinamo tried to react and pulled one back in the 57th minute thanks to S. Kulenovic, assisted by L. Stojkovic. However, the expulsion of L. Stojkovic in the 62nd minute further complicated the task for the home team.
Despite being a man down, Dinamo failed to reverse the situation. Gorica, with a solid defense and taking advantage of opportunities, took all three points. The match was particularly disputed in midfield, reflected in the number of cards shown: five yellow cards for Gorica and three yellow cards and one red card for Dinamo. Dinamo Zagreb had 13 shots, but only 3 were on target. Gorica, with less possession, was more effective in front of goal with 5 shots on target out of 8 attempts.
