Cienciano edges out Deportes Iquique in thrilling Sudamericana clash
Iquique, April 25, 2025 – Cienciano secured a 2-3 victory over Deportes Iquique in a captivating match at the Estadio Tierra de Campeones, part of the CONMEBOL Sudamericana group stage. The game, officiated by Nicolás Ramírez from Argentina, was characterized by its intensity and fluctuating scoreline.
Cienciano dominated possession (72%), registering 14 shots, though only two found the target. Gianfranco Gentile opened the scoring in the 24th minute, assisted by José Romagnoli. However, Deportes Iquique responded swiftly with a goal from Sebastián Pino in the 29th minute, assisted by Jonathan Gómez. Pino received a yellow card before halftime.
