Austria Overpowers Cyprus in Limassol
Limassol, Cyprus – Austria convincingly defeated Cyprus in a match corresponding to the group stage of the European qualification for the World Cup, held at the Alphamega Stadium. The Austrian team controlled the match from the start, demonstrating superiority in possession and goal-scoring effectiveness.
Marko Arnautovic was the standout player of the match, scoring a penalty in the 18th minute and extending the lead with an additional goal in the 56th minute, assisted by K. Danso. Despite a yellow card received by Cyprus’ G. Kastanos just before halftime and another by A. Shikkis in the 70th minute, the home team failed to seriously threaten the Austrian goal.
