Macará Edges Out Cuniburo in Thrilling Quito Encounter
Quito, February 22, 2025.- Macará defeated Cuniburo 3-1 in a thrilling match at the Estadio Olímpico Atahualpa, corresponding to the second round of the 2025 Liga Pro regular season. The match, officiated by Robert Cabrera, was characterized by its intensity and numerous yellow cards.
Macará opened the scoring in the 4th minute with a goal from G. Blanc, assisted by A. Muñoz. Cuniburo equalized in the 12th minute thanks to F. Mera, with an assist from L. Gómez. The second half proved crucial. An own goal by E. Hernandez in the 72nd minute gave Macará the definitive advantage.
The game was full of excitement. Several yellow cards were shown: three to Cuniburo (N. Molina, L. Gómez, and R. Monti) and two to Macará (J. Morales and G. Blanc).
