Crystal Palace Shines at Home Against AZ Alkmaar in UEFA Europa Conference League
London, November 6, 2025 – In an exciting night at Selhurst Park, Crystal Palace triumphed over AZ Alkmaar in the group stage of the UEFA Europa Conference League. The home team demonstrated great effectiveness in front of goal, despite conceding possession of the ball to AZ Alkmaar (65% against 35%).
The score opened early with a goal from J. Mateta in the 17th minute, following a missed penalty. The joy continued for the Palace fans when M. Lacroix extended the lead in the 22nd minute. Before the break, I. Sarr added to the goalscoring party in the 45th minute.
Although AZ Alkmaar tried to react and S. Mijnans managed to pull one back in the 54th minute, assisted by K. Smit, I. Sarr scored again for Crystal Palace in the 57th minute, assisted by J. Mateta, consolidating the English team’s lead.
Despite a greater number of shots from Crystal Palace (20 against 8 from AZ Alkmaar), the Dutch team maintained possession of the ball for much of the match.
