Crystal Palace Defeats Aston Villa in Thrilling FA Cup Encounter
London, April 26, 2025 – Crystal Palace secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Aston Villa in a thrilling FA Cup semi-final clash at Wembley Stadium. Despite significantly lower possession (30% compared to Aston Villa’s 70%), Crystal Palace proved more clinical in front of goal.
The match started with a tense atmosphere, with yellow cards shown to Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz Kamara at 17 minutes and Crystal Palace’s Tyrick Mitchell at 19 minutes. Eberechi Eze opened the scoring for Crystal Palace in the 31st minute, assisted by Iliman Ndiaye Sarr. Although Jean-Philippe Mateta missed a penalty in the 54th minute, Sarr netted his first personal goal at 58 minutes, assisted by Mateta. The third and final goal arrived in the dying minutes, again scored by Sarr, with an assist from Eddie Nketiah in the 90th minute.
Aston Villa, despite dominating possession and having more shots (16 to 9), failed to find the back of the net. Crystal Palace, on the other hand, were more clinical, converting three of their nine shots on target. The game was marked by Aston Villa’s discipline, receiving only one yellow card, while Crystal Palace accumulated three. The victory secures Crystal Palace a place in the FA Cup final.
