Cruz Azul Secures Victory in a Hard-Fought Match Against Toluca
Mexico City (D.F.) – In a tight match held at the Estadio Olímpico Universitario, Cruz Azul prevailed over Toluca with a final score of 1-0. The match, corresponding to matchday 6 of the Apertura 2025 of Liga MX, was marked by intensity and midfield struggles.
Cruz Azul dominated ball possession with 55% compared to Toluca’s 45%, reflecting their intention to control the rhythm of the game. However, despite their superior possession, the “cementeros” had difficulties converting their opportunities. Of the 23 shots taken, only 7 found the target, while 14 went off course. Toluca, on the other hand, generated less danger, with only 8 shots, of which only one was on goal.
The decisive moment of the match came in the 78th minute, when L. Romero, assisted by J. Orozco, managed to break the tie with a goal that gave Cruz Azul the victory.
The match was also characterized by a high number of fouls (16 for Cruz Azul and 12 for Toluca) and yellow cards, with three cautions for each team. Referee César Ramos Palazuelos had to constantly intervene to maintain order in a match that was played with great intensity. Despite Toluca’s efforts, Cruz Azul managed to maintain the lead until the end, securing three important points in their quest for the top spots in the table.
