Croatia Thrashes France in UEFA Nations League Quarter-finals
Split, Croatia – Croatia convincingly defeated France 3-0 in the UEFA Nations League quarter-finals, played at Stadion Poljud on March 20th, 2025. The match, refereed by Espen Eskas of Norway, was defined by Croatia’s clinical finishing.
Despite France’s 62% possession and 13 shots (6 on target), Croatia’s precision in attack proved decisive. Andréj Kramarić opened the scoring in the 8th minute with a penalty that went in despite being missed. Ante Budimir extended the lead in the 26th minute, assisted by Ivan Perišić, who sealed the victory with a goal in the 45th minute.
Although France created more chances, Croatia’s efficiency, with 8 shots and 4 on target, was superior. The Croatian defense also performed solidly, while France accumulated two yellow cards, for Tchouameni and Upamecano. The statistics reflect French dominance in possession (62% to 38%), but Croatia’s superior finishing resulted in a clear and deserved victory. The match ended 3-0, a remarkable win for Croatia as they advance to the semi-finals.
