Newport County Stuns Crawley Town in Thrilling Match
Crawley, West Sussex – In a match held at the Broadfield Stadium, Newport County secured a valuable victory over Crawley Town. Despite Crawley Town dominating possession with 61%, Newport County proved to be more effective in attack. The match was marked by intensity, reflected in the numerous fouls committed by both teams.
Newport County opened the scoring in the 68th minute with a goal by K. Whitmore, assisted by M. Smith. Shortly after, in the 70th minute, L. Shephard extended the lead with a goal assisted by M. Baker, putting Newport County in an advantageous position. Crawley Town fought to come back and found a respite in the 90th minute, when M. Anderson scored a goal assisted by L. Flower. However, it was not enough to avoid defeat.
Newport County, despite having less possession (39%), was more accurate in front of goal, converting two of their six shots on target. Crawley Town, on the other hand, took 12 shots, but only one ended up in the back of the net. Referee James Oldham showed two yellow cards to Newport County.
