Coritiba secures solid home win against Volta Redonda
Curitiba, Paraná – In a match held at the Estádio Major Antônio Couto Pereira, Coritiba defeated Volta Redonda in a game marked by the home side’s effectiveness. Dellatorre was the standout player, scoring a double in the 18th and 23rd minutes, the first after an individual play and the second assisted by Iury Castilho.
The match, officiated by Alisson Sidnei Furtado, was characterized by a midfield battle, reflected in the high number of fouls committed by both teams, 19 each. Volta Redonda enjoyed the majority of possession (60%), taking 17 shots, 7 of which were on target. Coritiba, with 40% possession, made better use of their chances, with 11 shots, 5 of them directed at the opponent’s goal.
The match was also marked by a high number of yellow cards. The referee cautioned six Coritiba players: Wallisson, Josue, Filipe Machado, Bruno Melo, Lucas Ronier, and Maicon. For Volta Redonda, Robinho and MV received cautions.
The victory allows Coritiba to add important points in the Brazilian Serie B, within the 2025 season.
