Coritiba Dominates and Defeats Botafogo SP at Home
Curitiba, Brazil – In a match held at the Estádio Major Antônio Couto Pereira, Coritiba convincingly defeated Botafogo SP. The home team dominated possession with 63% and created numerous goal-scoring opportunities, culminating in a victory.
Gustavo Coutinho opened the scoring in the 15th minute, following an excellent assist from Iury Castilho. Coritiba continued to press, and Iury Castilho extended the lead in the 37th minute, this time assisted by Bruno Melo.
Botafogo SP suffered a major blow in the 43rd minute with Edson’s expulsion due to a red card, further complicating their aspirations. Although they tried to reorganize, Coritiba’s numerical superiority and territorial dominance proved too much for them.
The match was also marked by several cards. Bruno Melo from Coritiba and Matheus Barbosa and L. Maciel from Botafogo SP received yellow cards.
With 25 total shots, although only 5 on target, Coritiba demonstrated their offensive prowess. Botafogo SP, on the other hand, could barely generate two shots, none of which were on target.
