Universidad de Chile Secures Victory over Colo Colo with Zaldívar’s Goal in Monumental Classic
Santiago de Chile – In a tense and hard-fought match at the Estadio Monumental David Arellano, Universidad de Chile defeated Colo Colo with a goal by Marcos Zaldívar in the 70th minute, assisted by Juan Martín Lucero. The match, corresponding to matchday 5 of the 2026 season of the Chilean Primera División, was marked by intensity and constant fouls, reflected in the numerous yellow cards shown by referee Cristian Garay.
Colo Colo dominated possession of the ball with 57%, but failed to translate that superiority into goals. Of the 10 shots taken, only 3 found the target defended by Universidad de Chile’s goalkeeper.
