Draw at Caliente: Tijuana and Mazatlán Split Points
Tijuana, Mexico – In a hard-fought match at the Estadio Caliente, Club Tijuana and Mazatlán FC drew 1-1 in a game corresponding to week 7 of the Clausura 2025 of Liga MX.
The home team took an early lead in the 9th minute, courtesy of a goal by K. Castaneda, who capitalized on an assist from R. Arciga to beat the visiting goalkeeper. Tijuana dominated possession with 56%, looking to extend their lead, but Mazatlán’s defense remained solid. The first half also saw a yellow card for I. Rivero of Tijuana.
In the second half, Mazatlán came out with renewed vigor. Their persistent pressure paid off in the 60th minute when J. Ovalle equalized the score, after a play where there was no direct assist. The game became more physical, with several yellow cards shown to players from both teams, including R. Arciga and J. Diaz. The final minutes were tense, with both teams desperately seeking the winning goal. Tijuana finished with 14 shots, four of them on target, while Mazatlán tallied 11 shots, with three directed at the goal. Despite Tijuana’s territorial dominance and the attempts from both sides, the score remained unchanged, sealing the final draw. Referee Martin Molina Astorga cautioned several players, including J. Porozo in the 87th minute.
