Queretaro Surprises Chivas in a Hard-Fought Match at La Corregidora
Santiago de Querétaro, Mexico – In a match corresponding to week 14 of the Liga MX Apertura, Club Queretaro defeated Guadalajara Chivas at the Estadio Corregidora. The match, officiated by Maximiliano Quintero Hernandez, saw the home side secure victory despite a marked difference in ball possession.
Just two minutes into the game, A. Ávila put Queretaro ahead with a goal that unleashed euphoria in the stands. Despite Chivas dominating possession with 73% and generating 22 shots, only three of them found the target, highlighting a lack of effectiveness in finishing. On the other hand, Queretaro, with 27% possession, took advantage of one of their few opportunities to make the difference.
The match was characterized by a hard-fought game, with several cards shown. R. Ledezma, from Chivas, received a yellow card in the 44th minute and was later sent off with a red card in the 90th minute. On the Queretaro side, A. Zapata and G. Allison were also booked. The match culminated in a result that reflects Queretaro’s effectiveness against Chivas’ offensive sterility, despite their territorial dominance and number of corners (11 to 0).
