América Thrashes Pachuca in Tense Match Marked by Red Card
Club América cruised to a 3-0 victory over Pachuca in a heated quarter-final clash of the Liga MX Clausura playoffs. The match, played at Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes in Mexico City on May 11, 2025, was dominated by América and highlighted by a Pachuca red card.
Álvaro Zendejas was the star, scoring two goals (17′ and 29′). Pachuca struggled after a series of yellow cards and a red card for Idrissi (45′), hindering their performance. Despite having chances, they couldn’t capitalize. A missed penalty by Aguirre in the 90th minute didn’t detract from América’s commanding win. Despite yellow cards for both teams, América displayed greater efficiency and control, evidenced by their higher possession and shots on target. The victory puts América in a strong position to advance to the next round.
