América Secures Victory in Tense Match Against Monterrey
Mexico City – In an emotion-filled encounter played at the Estadio Azteca, Club América managed to overcome Monterrey in a Liga MX quarter-final match marked by intensity and controversy. The final score reflected América’s superiority, although not without suffering.
The first goal came in the 30th minute when A. Zendejas, assisted by J. dos Santos, opened the scoring for América. In the second half, J. Zuniga extended the lead in the 59th minute. However, the joy was short-lived, as a subsequent goal by Zuniga himself was disallowed by VAR for offside in the 70th minute.
The match was characterized by hard-fought play, reflected in the large number of cautions. I. Reyes and J. Zuniga received yellow cards for América, while S. Ramos, J. Rodriguez, S. Medina, and L.
