America Claims Victory in Thrilling Match at Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes
Mexico City (D.F.) – In a hard-fought match at Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes, Club America defeated Club Tijuana in an action-packed encounter corresponding to Matchday 2 of the Liga MX Apertura 2025.
America dominated possession with 65% and generated 18 shots, 10 of which were on target, showcasing their offensive intent. The first goal of the match came in the 35th minute when B. Rodriguez converted a penalty for America.
However, Tijuana did not back down and managed to equalize in the 56th minute with a goal by R. Arciga, assisted by K. Castaneda. The joy of the equalizer was short-lived for the visitors, as in the 65th minute, R. Aguirre restored America’s lead thanks to an assist from I. Violante.
The match was characterized by intensity and midfield battles, reflected in the 11 fouls committed by America and 10 by Tijuana. Referee Marco Antonio Ortiz Nava cautioned three America players: S. Caceres, A. Zendejas, and B. Rodriguez.
