Cienciano and ADT Play to Thrilling Draw in Cusco
The Estadio Inca Garcilaso de la Vega in Cusco hosted a vibrant match between Cienciano and ADT for the first matchday of the 2025 Peruvian Primera División Apertura. The game, played on February 9th, ended in a thrilling 2-3 victory for ADT.
Cienciano started stronger, controlling possession in parts of the game (48%), although ADT responded with a more direct style. Despite similar possession, ADT had more shots on target (5 to 3). Yellow cards favoured ADT (4 to 1 for Cienciano).
The match was marked by a yellow card to Carlos Ascues of ADT in the 9th minute, but Cienciano also saw a yellow card to D. Ortiz. Cienciano took the lead through a goal from Carlos Garcés in the 47th minute, assisted by Sebastián Cavero. But ADT fought back fiercely. Francisco Bersano equalised in the 82nd minute with an assist from Jhon Vidales, and then Cristian Cabello put ADT ahead in the 90th minute. However, Cienciano equalized with a penalty converted by Cristopher Cueva in the 86th minute.
An intense match with fluctuating scores that left the fans on the edge of their seats. Although Cienciano had more corners (8 to 2), ADT’s effectiveness in goal-scoring opportunities proved decisive.
