Chippa United defeats Amazulu in thrilling East London clash
Chippa United triumphed over Amazulu with a 2-1 victory at the Buffalo City Stadium in East London on Friday, March 29th, 2025. The match, part of the 20th round of the 2024 Premier Soccer League season in South Africa, was officiated by Olani Jethro Kwinda and delivered an exciting finish.
Chippa United took the lead with goals from E. Sakala in the 19th minute and C. Martin in the 36th. Amazulu pulled one back through T. Moremi in the 44th minute, but couldn’t find the equalizer.
Despite having less possession (36% compared to Amazulu’s 64%), Chippa United proved more clinical in attack, registering 10 shots with 5 on target and converting two into goals. Amazulu, despite dominating possession and having 11 shots, only managed one goal. Both teams committed numerous fouls (8 for Chippa United and 12 for Amazulu), but no yellow or red cards were shown.
