FC Cincinnati Edges Out Chicago Fire in Thrilling 3-2 Victory
Chicago, Illinois – FC Cincinnati secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over the Chicago Fire at Soldier Field in a Major League Soccer regular season match (game 13). Officiated by Lorenzo Hernandez, the match was a back-and-forth affair filled with intensity.
Evander opened the scoring for FC Cincinnati in the 10th minute, assisted by Sergio Santos. Chicago Fire equalized in the 31st minute through a goal by H. Cuypers, assisted by J. Bamba. K. Denkey put FC Cincinnati back in the lead just before halftime (42nd minute), again assisted by Sergio Santos. Denkey received a yellow card in the 43rd minute.
In the second half, Evander scored his second goal for FC Cincinnati in the 71st minute, assisted by L. Orellano. Chicago Fire pulled one back with a penalty converted by B. Gutierrez in the 85th minute. The closing stages saw yellow cards for Acosta and three FC Cincinnati players (Celentano, Orellano). FC Cincinnati held on for the win despite Chicago Fire’s possession advantage (57% to 43%). Cincinnati, however, had more shots on target (9 vs 5).
