Chennaiyin FC suffered a bittersweet defeat against Hyderabad FC in a thrilling match at Chennai’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Despite taking an early lead with a goal from I. Yadwad in the 5th minute, assisted by L. Brambilla, Chennaiyin couldn’t hold on to their advantage. Hyderabad dominated possession (57%) and although both teams had a similar number of shots on target (one each), Hyderabad’s possession advantage was evident throughout the game. Chennaiyin committed a significant number of fouls (12) and accumulated three yellow cards and a red card for C. Shields at the end of the match, a turning point in the game. Hyderabad, on the other hand, received only one yellow card. The final score reflected Chennaiyin’s struggles in the second half, a match marred by Shields’ late sending off.
