Club Brugge cruises to victory over Cercle Brugge in derby clash
Club Brugge KV secured a comfortable 3-1 win over Cercle Brugge in a thrilling derby match at the Jan Breydelstadion in Bruges. The game, part of the Jupiler Pro League’s 29th round, saw Club Brugge dominate possession (58%) and create more scoring chances (12 shots, 4 on target).
Hans Vanaken opened the scoring in the 26th minute, assisted by Arber Jashari. Ferran Jutglà added two more goals, one in the 34th minute assisted by Vanaken and another in the 36th minute thanks to an assist from Clinton Talbi. Cercle Brugge pulled one back in the 57th minute through Ibrahim Diakite, assisted by Gregory Magnee, but couldn’t prevent the defeat.
The match was a tense affair, with several yellow cards shown. Jordi Ordóñez and Raphael Onyedika received yellow cards for Club Brugge early on, while Hugo van der Bruggen and Felipe Augusto were booked for Cercle Brugge. Hugo Siquet also received a late yellow card for Club Brugge.
Despite the loss, Cercle Brugge showed good spirit and created some chances, but lacked the finishing touch. Club Brugge, on the other hand, demonstrated greater solidity and clinical finishing, securing all three points.
