Bayern Munich defeats Celtic in Glasgow
Bayern Munich convincingly beat Celtic at Celtic Park in Glasgow, winning 2-1 in a UEFA Champions League 2024 Knockout Round Play-offs match. The game, played on February 12th, 2025, was dominated by the Bavarians, who enjoyed greater possession (58%) and more shots on target (5).
The German team’s goals came in the first half and early in the second. Michael Olise opened the scoring in the 45th minute, assisted by Dayot Upamecano, while Harry Kane extended the lead in the 49th minute, thanks to a pass from Joshua Kimmich. Celtic pulled one back in the 79th minute through Daizen Maeda, assisted by Yang Hyun-Jun, but it was too late for a comeback. Despite the defeat, Celtic showed fighting spirit, with 9 shots, although only two were on target. The referee for the match was Jesús Gil Manzano from Spain.
