Getafe Stuns Celta Vigo with Solid Away Win
Vigo, Spain – In a match played at the Estadio Abanca-Balaídos, Getafe defeated Celta Vigo with a pragmatic and effective performance. Despite Celta’s territorial dominance, enjoying 69% of the ball possession, Getafe capitalized on their opportunities to secure all three points.
The first goal of the match came in the 47th minute, when A. Liso, assisted by C. Uche (who had received a yellow card shortly before), opened the scoring for Getafe. Celta, although insistent in attack, failed to translate their possession into clear goal-scoring chances. While they registered 10 shots, only 3 found the target.
In the 72nd minute, C. Uche atoned for his yellow card and extended Getafe’s lead, this time with an assist from I. Bekhoucha. Despite Celta’s efforts to come back, including several changes to their lineup starting in the 57th minute, Getafe’s defense remained solid.
The match was intense, with a total of 29 fouls committed between both teams. The referee, Iosu Galech Apezteguia, showed five yellow cards to Celta and two to Getafe. Despite their superior possession, Celta failed to take advantage of their 8 corner kicks. Getafe, with 31% possession, showed greater effectiveness in their attacks in the opponent’s area. The final score was representative of a match where efficiency trumped dominance.
