Apoel Nicosia triumphed over Celje in a thrilling match held at the Stadion Z’dežele in Celje on February 13th, 2025, as part of the UEFA Europa Conference League Knockout Round Play-offs. The game, officiated by Mykola Balakin from Ukraine, was a back-and-forth affair. Celje started strong, with A. Kucys scoring in the 2nd minute, assisted by S. Seslar. However, Apoel Nicosia responded with a goal from D. Abagna in the 32nd minute, assisted by S. Drazic. Apoel Nicosia’s dominance became clear in the second half. Despite a missed penalty by Kucys in the 59th minute, Celje couldn’t contain the Cypriot side’s attack. Kucys scored his second goal in the 59th minute, but Apoel Nicosia responded with goals from K. Laifis in the 70th minute (assisted by S. Tejera), securing their victory. The match was marked by a red card to L. Dvali of Apoel Nicosia in the 73rd minute, after accumulating two yellow cards.
