Castellón and Sporting Gijón play a thrilling 4-4 draw in La Liga 2

Castellón and Sporting Gijón played out a dramatic 4-4 draw in a high-scoring encounter at the Estadio SkyFi Castalia in Castellón de la Plana on May 5th, 2025. Sánchez scored his second to put Castellón ahead again before the break, however Otero received a yellow card in the 19th minute, followed by another yellow card for Sporting Gijón in the 45th minute, and a yellow card for S. Moyita from Castellón. Castellón dominated possession with 52% and had 16 shots (7 on target, 3 off target) compared to Sporting Gijón’s 48% possession and 17 shots (7 on target, 9 off target). Castellón had 3 corners and 6 fouls, while Sporting Gijón managed 4 corners and 8 fouls.

The second half started with a yellow card to G. Crettaz of Castellón (52′). Otero scored a penalty to level the score at 2-2 in the 53rd minute. A. Jiménez put Castellón back in front in the 67th minute, only for K. Vázquez to score an own goal and set the score to 4-2 in the 71st minute. However, Otero completed his hat-trick late on, scoring in the 90th minute to make the final score 4-4. Castellón’s D. Chirino received a yellow card in the 87th minute.

The referee for the match was Miguel Sesma Espinosa from Spain. Despite the draw, the match provided an exciting spectacle for the fans, with eight goals scored, several yellow cards, and a fascinating tussle for possession throughout the match.
